Best Beauty Products of 2017

As the year comes to an end, it’s time for me to share my list of best beauty products of 2017. While not all these makeup items were released in 2017, they are all my favorite products I’ve used and loved during the past twelve months. I highly recommend every item on this list.

Some of these names may already be familiar to you. Hopefully, you will find a new item to add to your must have beauty products of 2018!

1. Origins Stay Tuned Balancing Face Makeup in Fair

Dear my fellow oily skin peeps, Origins Stay Tuned Balancing Face Makeup ($26.50) is the foundation for you! It’s lightweight, buildable from medium to full coverage, and non-greasy. The best part? A little bit goes a long way AKA saving more $$$ in the long run. One quarter-sized layer is enough for my full face and covers up my redness. Plus, it doesn’t leave my skin as oily as other foundations by the end of the day. Basically, you NEED it. I am in the shade Fair.

2. Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Light

Yes, Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer ($27) really is worth the hype. Less is more with this one. In addition to covering everything from acne to under-eyes, you could use lighter or darker shades to highlight or contour. I also discovered it doubles as foundation, making it a TSA friendly and compact addition to your travel makeup bag. On lazy makeup days, I love dotting Shape Tape in Light all over my face and blending it out for a lightweight, full coverage finish.

3. Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo in Chic Phreak/Girl Next Door

Probably the most hyped brand of 2017. Rihanna killed it with this one. As someone who’s a fan of subtle highlight, I have a special place in my heart for Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter ($34) in Chic Phreak/Girl Next Door. I use the left side for a softer finish or amp it up with some shimmer by using the right side. With a cream-powder formula, this highlighter blends so effortlessly to create a soft, natural glow. You can’t overdo it no matter how much you pack on.

4. Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer in Park Ave Princess

Meet my ride or die bronzer and contour in one for the past three years, Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer ($30). Park Ave Princess, the golden bronze shade, not only naturally warms up my face for a sunkissed look, but it also instantly sculpts and slims my cheekbones and temples. Plus, the matte finish is a must have for my oily skin. I’ve gotten so many compliments when I wear this bronzer. My secret is out, peeps. It’s all Tarte.

5. Pixi Beauty Sheer Cheek Gel

I was never a fan of blush until I tried Pixi Beauty Sheer Cheek Gel ($14). They may look intimidating in the tube, but I promise they blend out so flawlessly and give your cheeks a natural flush of color. It’s hard for me to pick a favorite shade because I love them all! For those fresh-faced, no makeup makeup days, this will be your go-to. Fun fact: You can also use them as a lip stain for a natural looking pout that’ll stay all day.

6. Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

C’mon. Do I really even need to explain? Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder ($38) is a staple in almost every beauty YouTuber’s makeup routine and this year I found out why. This weightless powder instantly mattifies my face and gives me a flawless finish without looking cakey. Whenever I accidentally apply too much bronzer, I sweep some of this powder on top and it blurs my mistakes away. One jar has lasted me the whole year and I still have a decent amount left. I can’t believe I used to do my makeup without this magical product.

7. ColourPop Crème Gel Colour Eyeliner Pot in Swerve

I cannot praise ColourPop Creme Gel Colour Eyeliner Pot ($6) enough. The formula is super smooth and incredibly pigmented. Besides, it’s priced lower than most drugstore gel eyeliners, making it a no-brainer. I use an angled eyeliner brush to glide Swerve, their true onyx black shade, along my lower waterline to intensify my eye looks.

8. Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Palette

Ah, yes. The most controversial palette of 2017 just so happens to be my favorite. The shade range in Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture Eyeshadow Palette ($42) is unlike any other palette I own, which is what initially caught my attention, but what captured my heart was the insane pigmentation of the eyeshadows. I found the soft-pressed shadows easy to blend and quickly learned that the key to working with them is being light-handed, as a little bit goes a long way. If you’re open to learning, I highly recommend this palette.

9. Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara

Length, volume, and dark lashes all in one! Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara ($23) goes on so smoothly and I love that I can apply a few coats without the mascara getting crunchy or clumpy. The brush applies evenly while separating and defining every lash. Lately, I’ve been into wearing mascara only on my upper lashes and this has been my knight in golden armor for a full, defined set.

10. e.l.f. Instant Lift Brow Pencil

I discovered e.l.f. Instant Lift Eyebrow Pencil ($2) on a spontaneous trip to Target one night when I realized I was out of my last brow pencil in the middle of filming and it is the best thing that has happened to my brows. In fact, it’s a great dupe for ABH Brow Wiz. For $2, you can’t beat this steal.

11. Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick 420 Rebellious Rose

My grandma gifted me the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick ($32) in 420 Rebellious Rose and it is hands down the best lipstick I have ever used. I love how it’s creamy and pigmented. I’m usually wary of red lipsticks, but this color wears off so naturally and beautifully that the red still appears on my lips even after eating and drinking! 12/10 recommend. I’m definitely buying more. FYI: I say red because that’s how it wears on my lips, but it’s technically a rich rose color.

12. Pixi Beauty Makeup Fixing Mist

Of the four Pixi mists I own, Pixi Beauty Makeup Fixing Mist ($15) is my most used and an absolute gem in my makeup routine. This mist is a lifesaver for my oily skin, especially during those hot summer months when my face practically melts off without it. This mist helps my makeup stay in place all day and the pleasant rose scent is so refreshing! No other setting spray I’ve tried compares to this one.
